I have two computers with the same version of both programs installed. My newest is a Dell XPS 410, when I attempt to back up a DVD with it I get a message from Clonedvd telling me that CSS encyption is present and I can't perform the back-up. On my old system, everything works normally. I have confirmed that Anydvd is running in the backgorund so I cannot see why I am getting the error message. When I attache a Lacie external DVD burner to the Dell and put my blank DVD in the system drive it also works without a hitch. So somewhere, somehow, the problem is centered around my Dell burner. Any ideas?

I have heard from many people about Dell computers being a little tricky to work with when it comes to backing up movies.Something in their circuitry I've heard.

swap out for a different drive and see if that fixes the problem. could be some kind of butchered firmware, but i'm not sure.. there's really loads of things it could be. i just stay away from prebuilts in general, as they always find a way to shortchange you.

I know, I know, about the pre-builts but time was an issue and I got a good deal. I just remembered I have successfully backed up other DVDs on the same burner without issue after ripping them to the hard disk with Anydvd. But if it is with Clonedvd without the rip is when I get the error.
I'll probably install a Plextor drive.

Yeah, they were very recent releases. Who knows? Maybe the next Anydvd
update will take care of it.
