I have been backing up my original media with AnyDVD and Nero Recode. NO PROBS. I can play these backups on my standalone DVD player and the XBox.

But when I attempt to play them in my PC, AnyDVD stops responding, it does not seem to recognise my backed up media.

I am using the NEC 1300a (eom) and A grade princo 4x printable DVDr.

There is one particular copy I want to re-copy, but anyDVD will not recrypt it.

I am new at this, so all assistance would be helpful. Thanks

AnyDVD does not need to notice your copyed media...

    what AnyDVD does is remove

    Region code
    AutoRun
    analog protection system
    prohibited user operations
    region code scripts

what this (very basicly) means is that u can copy this disc, just with a nero Disc to Disc copy because it it not encrypted or protected........

u can Re-copy it with almost any program out there that copys DVD to DVD

(if this isent the case/or it dident help)

    let us know

thanks for that. I understand now.

Now I have another problem. I have disable any DVD so that I can copy a copy.

But nero stuffs up, every time. Starts copying, then I get a burn error, sometimes at 5% others at 20%, pretty much whenever it feels like it. I have tried copying at a slower speeds, but that doesn't seem to matter. Even with the stimulation on it gives me a read error.

I have successfully updated my firmware to 1.09 on the NEC, so now it recognises the Princo and Ritek media.

And other thing. When I attempt to recode an encrypted DVD with nero, it analysis fine, and composes fine, but then asks me for a blank media, but then doesn't accept the media (princo or ritek a grade) that I put in it. keeps telling me that the media is unknown, and to insert a DVDr + or -. it does it most of the time, only on the odd occasion it will accept my media then start copying. Its driving me mad. Can anyone help me.

    thanks

glad i could be of service....

as i have said atleast one other place on this forum (i think) nero is excellent for CDs but it aint that great for DVDs (just in my personal experience mind you) so if i was you id drop nero for DVDs (that is what i did, although other people think its great it really depends on your personal preferences)

and get a diff Disc to Disc copying program (for your originals it works.... so keep it for that)

but for a backup of a backup i would try a diff program....

just a suggestion (it isent set in stone)

what, u mean for backing up your backups incase your original dissapears and u dont want to spend even more money?

simple (although this is only my personal opinion, this isent the best program in the world, and it is not the only program that can do this)

CloneDVD, it copys them with excellent quality, and seen as they are backups of backups u wont need AnyDVD seen as they are not encypted

CloneDVD (if you dont mind spending money)
Roxio ( although some people have problems with it)
Pinnacle (is good if you search u will find out more)

all cost money but trials are available for all, so u know if its good

    but personally? i use CloneDVD

When I had this problem with Nero, all I needed to do was re-boot. It only happened when I had been copying several DVDs in a row, then went to make a CD data disk - my disk drive wouldn't recognize the CD through Nero, for some reason. Same thing after using the CD program for a while, I had to re-boot before it would recognize the DVDs. Other than that, no problems with Nero at all.

thanks guys for all your information.

I intend to try another burner software package to copy my copies.

I am now having trouble with Nero Recode. I have updated to the latest version. It copies great to my princo media grade A. Everytime without any problems. Can't fault it. And the quality is awesome, can't tell the difference. But I recently purchased some Piodata media (suppose to be Ritek), which apparently my NEC 1300a is compatable with. But Nero Recode does not recognise it, it keeps asking for a DVDr + or -, says it is unknown media, If I put in the princo it takes off and copies to it, but won't accept the Piodata media. I am running the latest firmware, so I dont understand why Recode wont accept it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or idea, or encountered the same problem.

    thanks
