Can anydvd running in the background be used with xcopy xpress? Could not find a thread on this. Sorry in advance if I missed it.
coachop94, AnyDVD only disables css encryption. People have said they get a css encryption error when using Xpress and cannot continue. For that reason AnyDVD will work or DVD43. But it will not enable Xpress to rip.
xbadboy2, about dvdxcopy forum ... Don't bother. I tried last night to help, and alot of my posts were deleted. Most of the time if you post something wrong the MOD's will edit, this time they just deleted my posts. Also pm'ed a XCopy MOD, and suggested in a suttle way to stop helping on that forum. Or at least be very, very careful what we post.
Flip I 'm not sure I fully understand your answer. I have xpress as part of the dvdxcopy goldv3.0.4 package. The dvdxcopy part(2 discs)works the xpress is where I get css protection message. My version has the ripper but for some reason I don't know has started giving me this message.I had dvd43v1.4 on my system but was it was causing problems then I got dvd43v2 it did'nt help and since it's not free anymore I deleted before the 30days was up since i saw where some people were having trouble deleting it.This is getting to be a headache.I'm still pretty new at this i just got this computer in December so I don't have any real exprience with all this. I want to keep it simple.I have dvdshrink haven't got Nero Recode yet.
Yes, AnyDVD will work to disable the css protection. This is AnyDVD's only purpose. What are you using to burn with Shrink? DVD Decrypter? Nero is a great program, and like you said it has Recode 2.
I'm just sending dvdXcopy questions and problems to http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/ Thats where they should be going for help with xcopy. At dvdxcopy.afterdawn you can not talking about rippers or anything like that if you do they will cut out half of your post. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. If you don't ask you will never know.[/small]
xbadboy2, Most peoples who are having problems with XCopy do have ripper versions that aren't working properly. And I tried to post suggestions on how to get it working again... and hell no MOD's didn't like it. It's like the only thing we can say is ... Get the RF version. Then hope they check out A/D to find out about 321rip.
Flip218, I figured if I'm going to put out $$ I want to go with what will work. My daughter uses the programs and like her Mom(me) doesn't have alot of time or alot of patience. I take my backups to work with me so I like to get it done as painless as possible.I have such a demanding job.(Not really I'm kidding.)I spend alot of time sitting at work so when I'm not reading I watch my movies since we don't have cable or satilite nor are we allowed to.
I, too, have the earlier version of Xpress that included the ripper. I too, am only NOW getting the CSS Error message. Uninstalling it and reinstalling doesn't restore express to the program that I paid good money to get and was using to legitimately backup my fairly extensive, and growing, collection of commercial DVD's. Can someone explain to me, please, without going into language that the MOD will feel obligated to delete, why such a program as this will suddenly cease doing what it has always done and give me some clue as to why that same program will not return to it's previous working condition when uninstalled/reinstalled? As far as I know, no changes were made to my computer. One day, it functioned flawlessly. The next, it did not. Despite the court ruling, this doesn't seem like an unfair question, as almost no rulings or interpretations function retroactively. thanks in advance for any direction anyone can give me in this.
I might add that, visiting 321 support, even calling them, or going to their forums is a complete waste of time in relation to this problem.
@coachop94 I thought we were working on the XCopy problems on another thread. [bold]Has everyone who has Nero on their PC and wants to record DVD taken the time to remove InCD?[/bold] Thought I'd throw that in, it's the first question I always ask. Here is something I've found out about XCopy, Xpress and Advanced: The program will not record all movies. The biggest failing is with Disney movies, especially the animated ones. The prog will lock up at times. Just threw that in for any future reference. Below is a checklist for environment problems, anyone with 321 studios software needs to review. Some of these will also effect other programs. This is quite lengthy so I highlighted some parts to make the read easier. Coachop may have already seen this. This is a copy, so I didn't just sit down and type this. I have some of 321 Studio's software on my PC. I had some trouble along the same lines, making coasters. Tier 2 tech assistance gave me a lengthy bulletin they had prepared. Seems that a number of popular software programs cause interference problems. They said the problem could crop up anytime; even after the program functioning well for an extended period. A word of warning, try turning off programs before going through Add-Remove to remove permanently. I found my solution in the bulletin. My Roxio and anti virus software needed turning off before burning. Hope your problem may be as simple. Here is the bulletin: The following programs can cause problems while using our software. Your situation sounds like one of these are installed: [bold]1. B's Clip:[/bold] This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot to remove it. For more information, visit the B's website at http://www.bhacorp.com. [bold]2. Direct CD or Drag to Disk:[/bold] These are applications from Easy CD Creator from Roxio. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. To remove them you need to go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. There you can select Easy CD Creator to Change - not Remove. Then you click next until it gives you the option to Modify. Then either Direct CD or Drag to Disk should be selected and changed to "make this option not available". Then click Next. While the program may look like it is installing, it is actually removing those options. For more information, please visit Roxio's website at http://www.roxio.com/en/support.index.jhtml [bold]3. GoBack:[/bold] This is backup software that constantly runs in the background (Terminate and Stay Ready) which not only needs to be turned off, but disabled. Unfortunately, this may cause some restore points to vanish, but it will free up a lot of hard drive space. For more information visit Symantec's web site for GoBack at http://www.symantec.com/goback/index.html [bold]4. DLA: Also HP-DLA, Veritas DLA, and others[/bold]. DLA stands for Disk Letter Assignment. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot to remove it. [bold]5. InCD:[/bold] This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. For more information go to Nero's website at http://www.nero.com/en/ [bold]6. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player:[/bold] These programs are DVD software viewers that often come on DVD movie discs, and will try to install themselves everytime you watch a movie on your computer. Please make sure to NOT let these install. Both programs interfere with all 321 Studios software and should be un-installed from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel when found. In some cases, you will need to uninstall and reinstall our software to restore functionality after removing one of these. For more information about both players, visit http://player.interactual.com/ [bold]7. McAfee Anti-Virus:[/bold] This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using our software, McAfee needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. For more info go to McAfee's website at http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp [bold]8. Norton Anti-Virus:[/bold] This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar and the automatic updates should be disabled. The 321 Studios software then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using our software, Norton needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. The Norton Website is http://www.symantec.com/ [bold]9. StopZilla:[/bold] StopZilla can hinder required portions of our installer, causing the software to fail. Please completely disable StopZilla, then install our software. Once our software is installed, you may safely enable it again. If you have any difficulty using our software at a later time, you may need to disable StopZilla before going to use our software. Uninstallation is not required. [bold]10. MyStorageGuard:[/bold] This backup software can hinder certain required files from being copied during the installation. Please disable this program before installing our software, and have it disabled any time you go to use our software. Uninstallation is not required. [bold]11. Napster 2.0:[/bold] This software includes some basic burning software that can cause burning problems if it is running. You will need to close this program completely before trying to use our software. In some rare cases, you will need to completely uninstall this package to attain full reliability, so if disabling does not solve your issue, please try uninstalling this software, and try again. [bold]12. Easy CD Creator 4.x:[/bold] Due to the age of this package, it is no longer updated by the authors. There are bugs present in this older system that will cause NUMEROUS problems on your machine, not just with our software. Please Uninstall completely, and consider either the new 6.x version from Roxio (http://www.roxio.com) or Nero 6.x (http://www.nero.com). These packages, installed without the Packet Writing software (DirectCD/Drag to Disk/InCD), all work very well together with our software. [bold]13. NTI FileCD:[/bold] This program has packet writing software installed with it. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot twice to fully remove it. For more information go to NTI FileCD's Product page at http://www.ntius.com/default.asp?p=cdmaker/filecd_main [bold]Spyware and Adware[/bold] - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-aware, available freely at www.lavasoftusa.com If you perform any of these changes, you may need to uninstall our software, then re-install to fix any damage left. If you find some of these packages, please shut down and reboot twice to ensure that the last pieces of the conflicting software are completely removed. Every version of windows requires updates. Now, after the checks, back to the subject. In the AnyDVD setup, it is better at decryption with the Safe Mode unchecked. AnyDVD should only be needed with the RF versions of the Xcopy. It can be used in some cases as Flip mentioned in certain instances where the 321 ripper doesn't always do the job. I have the Platinum XCopy with Advanced and Xpress (both RF and ripper versions). I quit working out problems with 321 support the last time they told me they quit supporting the Platinum suite. Sort of seems they had an on off process going. After 321 lost the court case, I never could keep up with whether they would support the old software or not. My last check was that they would not. They may have changed their mind again. Since the 321 software has to be activated when installed, how is everyone reactivating the software after deleting and reinstalling? That is one of the problems I ran into. I'm still running on my last install and don't know what will happen when I need a reinstallation.
thanks brobear, and my apologies if I injected myself into the wrong thread but a quick overview led me to think this one was as close to my problems as I was going to find. Your information gives me much to do as, yes, I have about 4 of those programs installed. Again, my thanks. At least it gives me some hope of resolving the issue. tedkbrown
Sophocles You're right, a thank you is nice every once in a while. tedkbrown Only by becoming involved can one hope to learn. 321 has been on again off again with support. I heard from another member that they are once again activating the older software or giving licenses for RF. Haven't been back to check on the situation of late. By the way, thanks for the thank you, we don't seem to get enough of those. Any problems, come on back; possibly someone can be of help. That tech bulletin was from a while back before 321 lost in court. BTW some of the later versions of Xcopy had a good user guide included. Had it with my Platinum suite. It's in pdf so have the adobe reader.
Well thank you again. I'm going to try the anydvd see what happens. As for the other advice the only program I have is thhe Norton Anti-Virus.The OEM of Nero doesn't contain the INCD and when I updated I did'nt include that packet. So this weekend I should be burning away Need to have more movies at work for my co-workers to watch when we're on standby. I'll let you know what happens.
coachop94 That Norton anti virus is no real problem. The only time it will sneak up and bite a person is if it is scheduled to do maintenance during a burn. I have forgotten before. I am offline when I record and turn off the anti virus and make sure there is no scheduled maintenance. All that is in the bulletin I believe. All thanks appreciated, as thanks is the only payment we recieve for trying to help others. Hope all your burning endeavors work out. Good luck with the AnyDVD, it's a good program when properly used.
Well brobear, I downloaded and installed AnyDvd still got the css protected in my Xcopyxpress(Goldv3.0.4)I'm ready to rip out my hair.I have to keep it simple since I don't want to the only one in my home that knows how to do this. My,my what to do.I saw somewhere in the forum I could get the RF version using my license and password. Can't remember where and that I could have both on the system together.I'll keep looking. I'm getting cross-eyed
Assuming you have a paid version of anyDVD, because trials are often neutered then you might want to try this. Open anyDVD and at the top choose Program, and then look down to settngs and remove the check from SaveMode (box must be empty). Reboot and then try Xcopy again.
