No. The fix is called "CloneDVD2". Rip with CloneDVD2, compress with Shrink if you like.

    @elby

I've got clonedvd2. I only use it if I have too.I prefer Recode. Then Shrink. Then Clonedvd.

Well, then use CloneDVD to rip, then Recode / Shrink to compress.

Thanks but no thanks, if I'm going to do extra steps I'll use ripit4me which does work with Shrink! AnyDVD was created to work with the encoding programs not just CloneDVD, which is where it's heading, just working with slysoft products.

I am so tired of hearing that! AnyDVD when it was sold to me was represented as something that would work in the background with YOUR ripping software.

Now that is not their focus, they have left those people behind and only push CloneDVD2. I don't want to read it. When some slysoft fan or slysoft themselves can tell me "we fixed it" I will be back on their bandwagon. It is an easy product to use and it is fast. Heck, I own Clone now, but I rarely use it or AnyDVD anymore. When it runs with Shrink again I may consider it.

At first I gave slysoft the benefit of the doubt and was thinking that this was going to be addressed. But all I read at their forum is BUY CloneDVD2, this is what Any was meant to work with...BULLSPIT...

They have come up against a problem that has to do with them PAYING for a license for another software that AnyDVD used to use. Now it can not due to some licensing snafu. It may be that this FREE software provider will not license to them anymore period so they could care less about supporting it (shrink or other rippers/encoders) anymore.

    :(

I'm sticking with Ripit4me and MacTheRipper!!!!!!!!!! First and Second. Then...Slysoft stuff...

Would help your "arguements" if your facts re DVDShrink were correct.

By all means correct me then. What is your opinion, facts, anything???? I can not understand yours if you don't state them.

I would be glad to hear these issues were being addressed. As I understand it AnyDVD can not use fixvts anymore and that is a problem with shrink and the newer encryptions.

Were any of those the new lionsgate or sony? Those are the encryptions that are a problem. That would be good news indeed!

I read at the Slysoft forum that the newer AnyDVD versions were unable to use the older version of fixvts that was working with shrink.

No, no I am not kidding... Is it the saw3 region one unrated with the 90 something bad sectors????? Slysoft even maintains that the latest Any was not working with the latest shrink. See below

Some have had success using a previous version of shrink or using other workarounds, but I can not say I have read that it has been done with just Any in the background and Shrink and Burn and DONE! Was it full disk or movie only?

    From the Slysoft forum:

Movies that can't be backed up using Anydvd with Shrink

Movies that can't be backed up using Anydvd with Shrink/Recode
R1 releases (and possibly other regions) of Grudge 2, Saw 3, Running with Scissors, Open Season, and Zoom: Academy for Superheroes can't be backed up with Anydvd and Shrink 3.2 alone if you want full disc backups including menus.

Those movies will work with Slysoft products (Anydvd 6.1.2.0 or later + Clonecd and Clonedvd2).

Shrink 3.2 cannot handle the wacky nonsense dvd structures that Sony produces on its latest releases.
And Anydvd cannot alter these crazy structures/Vobs on the fly for Shrink 3.2.

Here are two solutions for full disc backups:

    1. With Anydvd active on your toolbar, rip using Clonedvd2 (select "dvd +/- RL in the quality bar and choose "dvd files" for the output method--instead of your burner). Import the Clonedvd2 ripped files/folder into Shrink. There is an obvious advantage to using this method because you can eliminate all the stuff you don't want when you rip (trailers, for example).

    or

    2. If you're using Shrink, there's a chance you may already own Nero 6.6.1.4 or higher. Update to the latest version of Nero that you have, and use Nero Recode to import the disc directly with Anydvd running on your toolbar. Recode offers basically the same transcoder quality, and in my tests, tends to be slightly faster, on average, than Shrink. Recode can handle the crazy R1 Saw 3 structure. This compatibility may not last forever though, and to ensure the best compatibility with Anydvd, you should be using Clonedvd2.
Recode 2.2.6.17b from Nero 6.6.1.4 should work in addition to Recode 2.4.5.0 from Nero 7.7.5.1.

Update: Nero Recode 2.2.6.17b with Anydvd will likely not work for a full disc backup of Grudge 2 Region 1. This combination will work for a movie only backup.

If you just want the main movie, do this:
Right click on Anydvd on the toolbar, and select "rip-video dvd to harddisk". After you're finished ripping you should be able to import the main movie only into Shrink (Click "reauthor" and then browse to the location of the video_ts folder. Then drag and drop the main movie over to the left).

Anydvd+ "DVD neXt COPY and DVD95 Copy, DVD Rebuilder will too" -- according to forum user, Charlie

These movies will also work with Anydvd + the latest version of 1-Click--but not Shrink ver 3.2

If and when this changes, I will delete this sticky.

"The only way you can use AnyDVD along w/ Shrink is to insert VobBlanker or FixVTS after the rip and before you use Shrink. If you try it w/o one of those programs then you will get an error." --Carolina Mike

James has his Saw 3 R1 disc, and when he has some time (he is very busy) he will hopefully address this issue.

In the meantime, this is a known issue (so complaining about it probably won't make a solution for Anydvd fans who also happen to be DVD Shrink fans come any faster).

If Saw3 R1, Open Season R1, Grudge2 R1, Running with Scissors R1 or Zoom: Academy for Superheroes R1 is not working with Anydvd 6.1.2.0 and Clonedvd2 or Clonecd, then chances are you have a bad original that needs to be either cleaned or exchanged (even if the disc looks fine and plays fine, the disc can still suffer from quality control issues).

anthonyp8339 claims Anydvd ripper (which automatically uses an older version of FixVTS) with Shrink 3.2 will do the main movie of Saw 3:

    http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=850

duboiss1 claims Open Season will work with an old version of Shrink 2.3 (which I doubt most are using). You can follow that discussion here:

Forum user, please, claims using Anydvd ripper (which automatically uses an older version of FixVTS) will work with Shrink 3.2 on Open Season for the main movie. You can follow that discussion here (starting at post 16):

Wahoo started a "workaround" discussion for Grudge 2 and Running with Scissors here:

Thanks for alerting me to Zoom R1, Zamphire:
