i have read that anydvd contains a rootkit that is hard to remove..aka zepter software...i dont mind having this on my system as long as it is not an exploit or vulnerability...can anyone shed light on this?.
Hi, Can you post a link as from what I read anydvd in the last couple of months updates have been able to remove the sony rootkits.
Something along the lines of AnyDVD using rootkit type behaviour to stop itself from being blacklisted I would imagine. So say blocking anything from reading its registry keys to check whether it is installed or not. Basically something that shouldn't need to be there. Software sepecifying what software I can have installed is just BS. I should be able to install whatever I want. If an original game won't run because I have say AnyDVD installed, then that is just going to make me more inclined to get a free cracked version.
A simple google search would have yielded your answer in the very first hit. http://www.sysinternals.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6003&PN=1 It's not a rootkit.
