Press *#06# to make sure the IMEI# is correct and also, make sure the phone is locked to who you say it is.

I think you're having a frequency problem if the sim is allowing you access to the phone. The phone isn't locked but you need GSM 1900 MHz compatible phone for that sim to work.

Find out who is using 1900Mhz in your area.

Where are you trying to use this phone?

You can make a few phone calls and ask who is using 1900 Mhz in the area or on your phone:

Select Menu > Settings > Phone and from the following options:

Operator selection > Automatic — to set the phone automatically to select one of
the cellular networks available in your area. With Manual, you can select a
network that has a roaming agreement with your home network operator.

    [bold]Select Menu > Settings > Phone > Operator selection < Manual[/bold]

    Look for available Networks.

Get a SIM for that Network.

i tried fido sim(CANADA), and there is no signal or network found, there is no sim lock meaning the sim works, but it cannot read all the contact list on the sim.

Second i tried the SMART sim (phillipines) same thing no signal and cannot find network but the sim works, also it cannot read the contact list too.
