hope im in the right place and not breaking any rules,i have a prob with my standalone dvd playeer not playing some dics,i have found a site offering a 'HACK' to make it region free!!($5.00) any advice? thanks cb.
Lots of free hacks here. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks But you can make any DVD region free by ripping it with DVDFab HD Decrypter and running it through DVD Shrink. The problem generally isn't the region, it's that most of the world uses the PAL video standard, except for North America which is NTSC, and changing the region doesn't change the video, so after ripping the disk the files have to be converted to NTSC.
No, the player can be hacked to accept commercial DVD Roms that you buy overseas. The player now accepts disks from all regions. Japan and North America both use NTSC video, but are different regions. If you make the DVD player region free, then a Japanese disk will play ok. The UK and North America are different regions and the UK uses PAL video. If the player is now region free it still may be of no use to you unless it can accept PAL disks.
