hi guys is there anyway of keepin the widescreen aspect ratio from avi movies when u convert them using tmpgenc if so what would the settings for this be thanks
Using the wizard, try this. First page - 16.9. Third page - Settings>Advanced>Video arrange Method>Fullscreen(keep aspect ratio)
nevermind i figured it out its this 1st screen DVD - NTSC 2nd screen content of video - film movie or video movie(up to u) 3rd screen - other settings - rate control mode - 2-pass vbr, motion searh precsion - Highest Quality(very slow) then advanced tab - video arrange method - full screen(keep aspect ratio) and that should leave u with the wide screen for .avi's that u have downloaded or made youself. enjoy thanx for the tip on full screen keep aspect ratio mistycat but u dont change it to 16:9 thanx for the help couldnt have figured it out without u.
On the settings screen, you set aspect to what you're viewing it on. If it's a standard TV, you select 4:3. If you actually DO own a widescreen TV, select 16:9. Your DVD player can also be used to select the view, so that 16:9 movies won't be chopped off on the sides. On the second screen, film movie means 23.976fps, video means 29.97fps. You should know the framerate of your source, before you choose one of these options, and if you should use pulldown or not. Depending on the quality of the source, one does NOT always use 2 pass VBR, nor HQ. In many cases CQ-VBR 70-90, and Motion Search Estimate is plenty, without increasing the encode time to a ridiculous number of hours. eg. A downloaded "cam" is not worth 32 hours of encode time. You can't improve the quality, so don't try.
