Why is DVD-r better for PS2 ??? I have a collection of 89 PS2 copies (40 on CD-r and about 49 on DVD+r and even a couple on DVD+rw) Also 50 DVD movies. All on DVD+r. It depends on what version PS2 you have whether you can playback a DVD+r or +rw. All PS2 version 5 and higher will !
I have a version 4 i think, and some people have less than that as well. Version 4 deosnt cope too well with the DVD+R, thats the main reason i said it
So, IMO the first question to ask shawmix back is: what version do you have ? instead of saying -R is better. Mayby he has a version 6 or 7 and has seen a good and cheap DVD+r/+rw writer. Now he thinks he must go and get the more expensive -R/-RW writer. You know what I mean ? lol - i dont mind The reason i said DVD-R is that it is acpeted by the all of the PS2 version, whereas DVD+R only really works after version 4. Since DVD-R is still slightly cheaper, my solution would be to go for it. Also, DVD-R/RW writers tend to be better priced (quality ones) like the Pioneer DVR105 at £100. It will also play on more standalone DVD players than +R. Some say the variant quality offered on +R is slightly better than that on -R, but there is no evidence to abck this up. Lastly, the reson i said -R is the fact that the DVD Forum (made up of more than 200 of the biggest producers) have chosen this as their format of choice. Im not argueing with them LOL
