I reinstalled 98 and now I only get a very pixellated screen, 16 colors, and only the one screen setting option that is on--before I had no trouble with the monitor. Been searching for a Win 98 Service Pack(s) or AOC drivers for it an no luck, except bullsh$t websites you have to join. When I downloaded the AOC drivers from AOC, nothing was there to zip open or nothing DID anything. Help. Last time I reloaded the computer was online and I may have done updates, and the AOC monitor worked fine. What to do? Any user-friendly practical non-BS advice would be great.

is not a monitor issue but lack of driver for your videocard that is causing the problem. is the videocard part of the motherboard or is it a seperate card that fits into a slot on the motherboard?

Are you serious? I plug in the monitor. Last year it worked fine. Now it and the sound do not. I DID say, "Any user-friendly practical non-BS advice would be great." Thanks, M.

i am being serious in that it is a videocard driver issue not monitor driver issue. the fact it is pixelated & 16 colors means it is videocard not monitor problem.

educate yourself on what the function of drivers are & why an OS needs them.

Okay, so how to solve? How do I go in, find what the card is, the name, get drivers, etc?

My computer is a plastic box with slots. That's what I know. I have no idea. As I said, last year, reinstalled 98 and no problems at all, worked from the get go--now the AOC won't plug n play, I guess.
