Archos Videos- No Sound

    I have a problem on my Archos Gmini402. everytime i wanna convert mpg and mpeg videos to AVI on VirtualDub the videos end up with no sound but play perfectly on the archos. Can any1 help? thx

    I was never very fond of virtualdub but...if you want to cut down the conversion process use this free program that converts to DivX:

    I use it for my PDA, works perfectly, the archos does play Divx.

    Since that app appears to be a GUI for mencoder, despite the name it would be producing XviD/libavcodec MPEG-4 avi's and not DivX. Not that that is a bad thing.

    If you load an mpg in VDub and don't select an audio compressor, you will get PCM audio which could be the problem. Hard to say without more details though. As a side note, with mencoder you can keep the mp2 audio.

    actually i found a way to get sound on it but its a little scratch, takes 40 mins for a 20 min video, and increases the file size by 4 or 5 mb but the quality is amazing and perfect.
