I'll try to be as thorough as I can with my problem. Yesterday I bought a "Network Everywhere" router 041 I believe is the model number. After a couple of hours messing around with it, I got the 2 computers in my home tied together, both working fine.

Now I use Azureus. In the beginning I kept getting only yellow smileys. I searched the internet for possible causes and found that I need to forward ports on the router. I followed these instructions exactly.

    http://www.portforward.com/english/...041/Azureus.htm

Anyway, now I get the green smileys, which is the way its supposed to be. Now when I start Azureus I get an error: UPnP: Mapping 'Incoming Peer Data Port (TCP/6881)' failed.

I had already changed to a different port 58000 something, but changed it back after it didnt fix my problem.

Now, I still get the green smileys, this is my question/problem. What can I do about their error, I'm thinking it must be something I didnt do when configuring the router, although I thought I did everything.

The error would be nice to fix but this is the real headache, and may have something to do with the error. My down speed may jump up to 120 kbs or there abouts. Thats not a problem. The problem is, when it gets there, it stays for a short period of time, a min or 2 then it slows WAYYYY down. It'll slow down to 3 or 4 kbs and stay there for a while, then back up.

This may seem normal if its a rare file and you're only connected to 1 person or so. This is a file most seem to have and it appears I'm connected to 100 or so peers. Maybe not connected but thats whats in the ( ) on Azureus. Either way, its just odd for it to be going up that high then down that low consistently.

    Please help if possible. Thx.

    Jason

U can have everything perfect in Azureus and ur router/firewall, and still get msgs in azureus, because its Java based (half the time they mean very little) and its really bothersome. Use utorrent or bitcomet. I really wouldnt use port 6881 because all trackers have blacklisted it, and prob. the main reason u get error msgs. Try not to trust the nat test in azureus, use this: https://grc.com/x/portprobe=

After = put in port # ur using, and it needs to come back "open!"

As for ur speeds going up and down, what is ur connection speed?, and while ur d/l torrents what is the other pc doing, working hard aswell?

Can someone teleport this to win P2P please and thank you? ;-D

The other pc is doing nothing. The TCP port seems to be the one with the problem but I have it enabled on the router. Its frustrating as all get out to be 120 kbs for 30 secs then 1 kbs for 5 minutes.

Do I have to do port forwarding on both pc's or just the one i'm running azureus on?

U need to forward ports for ur router, u already know to go to portforward.com. And open ports for ur firewall (u only need to do this for the pc running the Bt client). Do u use winxp firewall?, if u do follow this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/9/263334

...and look under my name ;-D

thx cbrooks, i've already done that too. Something is blocking UDP and TCP. I've already got them set up in port forwarding and in firewall. Thx for the info, but I'm already past that point, still searching for the answer. Thx again

How fast is ur internet connection?. And do u know if ur isp blocks BitTorrent or caps it?. 99% of the time its issues w/ the router.

Thx again for the quick reply. Before buying the router, just yesterday, i had no problems with Azureus. That eliminates the ISP element. Broadband internet, havent had any problems here either.

Still running azureus now and a WARNING just came up. If you have a router/firewall, please check that you have port ##### open. Decentralized tracking requires this.

I've got that port opened in both locations, at least I think I do. When I test it with Azureus test, it says OK.

Scratch that error part in my last post, that was my fault. The rest still holds true however.

OK, I didnt even know what UPnP meant. Its not working, at least not with Azureus anyway. Id this causing the problem with my speeds going from 100 or so kbs to 20-30 bps? Its really ridiculous sitting here watching it, with all these peers connected, go from 100kbps to 100 bps and back and forth.

UpnP, whats plug and play have to do with Azureus anyway? Strange. Thx for the advice.
