Will a DVD with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 play on a bog standard TV. I'm in the market to buy some episodes of a TV program which come in that ratio and don't want to get disks that will not play on my telly My TV is not wide screen or digital...
Sure. You just get black bars filling the vertical of your 4:3 TV or you can zoom in, losing the sides of the video. Surely you already have some DVD's that are 16:9? Or you mean these are letterboxed 4:3? Even so that makes no difference for a 4:3 TV.
