I have read and re-read and re-read the info on Installing a Working ASPI Layer, and for the life of me I cannot find anywhere in the article HOW to ACTUALLY INSTALL an ASPI. It says which ones, but NOT how to install it. Being a newbie I read other threads mentioning about going into the Registry and going to the root, etc etc which is greek to me. I do know how to navigate into the registry, but thats it. Can anyone please explain HOW to actually go about installing an aspi? And which one? I have read many people having problems with ther Nero driver and some having problems with Adaptecs driver. I have XP Home. Nero 5.5.10.42. I also have RecordNowMax4.5. But neither RecordNowMax or Nero have been installed yet as I am trying to find out which driver/aspi will be compatible with both programs, because RecordNowMax says it cannot have 2 burning programs on the system at the same time. And since RecNowMax doesnt have an Uninstaller and therefore it will always be on my system, thats why I am trying to find ana aspi that will work for both RecNowMax and Nero. Thank you anyone. P>S Email even if you need to as it will be quite an undertaking in getting me to understand what you will be saying. Thanks again.
Go to the Adaptec or Nero website and download the Aspi layer. It'll be an *.exe file. Double click on it and you should get a response that 'aspi layer installed or updated' - something to that nature. Reboot and go about your business. It's that easy. luck- RWG
smg, When you download it, save it to the appliacation that wanted it, then do the double-clickie thingie (or to your C:/) NOT to program files, etc. Nero should have a ASPI layer there - In case ya need another one - http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10161912.html Welcome to the Neighborhood Pete BTW - You have the best 2 burning programs on the market and the ASPI on the link will work for everything You hook DVDShrink up to those and you'll have a great DVD Backup setup !
