I tried several rippers and they rip the dvd files but I get a message of no aspi. Tried dvd decrypter and it says the same thing. It says: 21:45:49 unable to initate aspi invalid aspi installed I checked my computer and it says no aspi c/program files winaspi.dll windows/system " 32.dll system 32 hp 32.dll program cd-dvd aspi 32 system 32 drivers raspi common aspirat2 program/hp select aspirat1 program/hp select So I am totally confused. Please help me if you will in a nut shell from start to finish. I have an hp 540n. 40 gig. a cd burner and a dvd burner. I did rip a movie and I put it in a file and when I burned it, it wouldn't play on my panasonic dvd player (it plays dvd-r, mp3, cdr/rw, and windows media). When I played the dvd on my computer in power dvd, it just showed all the files. If you will and can help, I will gladly donate $20 to your site. Thank you.
First of all, download ForceASPI or Adaptec's ASPI drivers and install it: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm ...and copying DVD to DVD-R is not very easy process, it depends on your DVD how to do it. Easiest situation is when the movie, including _all_ the files on DVD, fits within 4.36GB. If this is the case, you can follow this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm ...but in many cases, movies are larger and require tweaking. If the movie is only slightly over 4.36GB, let's say 4.8GB, you can try to strip out unnecessary audio files (other languages than the one you need), substitles, etc. If the movie is waaayyy bigger, something like 7GB, options are: split it to two DVD-Rs or re-encode (lose quality) the movie. Read through the DVD-R forum, there are some good discussions related to these problems, mostly to splitting issue. Also, I recommend visiting http://doom9.net/ and see their DVD-R guides. This is kinda difficult for newbies, I know, but once you master it, its really fast process.
Okay, I downloaded an 'aspi 471' from Adaptec. I get an error message 'no access to drive' What's wrong? I put the dvd in the dvd driver and it starts up, I clicked on dvd decrypter and nothing. I tried smart ripper and that's when I got the error message.I have read so many articles that I'm blue in the face.
Some of your existing ASPI packages might be conflicting with the new one. Try to remove those previous versions somehow from the system.
Okay, which ones? I don't want to screw up something in my computer. When I open dvd decrypter, I get Source - no know devices Then in the log I get dvd decrpter started Windows xp home edition initializing aspi manager wmaspi32.dll-adaptec's aspi layer unable to initialize aspi manager invalid aspi installation detected searching for aspi compatible host adapters unable to initialize aspi manager invalid aspi installation detected I read something about this somewhere, but I don't remember where. I read too much where I am rather confused.
Hey, can't really help. This is one of those situations where the whole computer's configuration is pretty much messed up, having multiple conflicting drivers for same device, etcetc.. I know that this sounds harsh, but my solution when my computer is somehow totally **cked up is to format c: and re-install Windoze.
Okay, I totally redid the computer. I didn't even reinstall the printer or scanner or any games. Uninstalled alot of the crap that is in win xp and from hp. This baby is clean. Now, please, can we start from the beginning? What to download and and what folders to put it in. Before I did this, I tried smart ripper and it seemed to have read the dvd and said that the files were authenicated, so I don't know if it decided to work or not.
Okay, last time. Since I reformatted the whole computer, I have nothing left. Before I did it, I had said that smart ripper authenicated the dvd, but the start button didn't show up. So now that everything is fresh, I have 3 aspi files that are needed. They are hpaspi 32.dll which is an application for cd/dvd, wnaspint.dll which is music match and aspi8u2 which is in system for cd/dvd. I wanted to try DVD Decrypter since it is suppose to be the best and this is what I got. DVD Decrypter Version 3.1.1.0 started Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Build 2600) Initialising aspi manager WNASPIS32.dll - Adaptec's ASPI layer - ASPI for Win 32 (95/NT)DLL-ver4.5.7.1008 Searching for ASPI compatible host adapters Unable to initialise ASPI manager Reason: Invalid ASPI installation detected Also, in the box for source it says no know devices. Okay, I'm blonde but that doesn't mean everything. What did I do wrong?
Hi Elayne, Try the instructions on Bart's page about API at: http://www.nu2.nu/aspi/ The Nero ASPI driver availabe at: ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll should work for you. Just copy it to c:\windows\system32 (assuming you have installed Windows XP in C:\Windows) If I understood your last message correctly, you _don't_ have the ASPI driver installed. wnaspi32.dll is the one you need. The others you mentioned won't do.
On my hp540n, I don't have a XP disc, Windows XP is pre-installed in a seperate partion. Anyway, I downloaded the aspi but it said that it was an invalid installation. I'll try your way tonight when I get home from work. I should hope that this works, getting pretty fed up. Thank you for all your time and help. Wish me luck.
Try also running the aspi_you from command prompt after copying the wnaspi -driver to see if it reports the ASPI drives correctly. You can also use the Adaptec's ASPIChk utility to verify the installation. http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?filekey=aspichk.exe If you copied the Nero ASPI driver to C:\Windows\System32, you should see a line saying: WNASPI32.DLL 2.01 (50) 07/08/2 131072 all the other lines can be N/A -- it doesn't matter. Good luck! =)
Thank you! I finally got dvd decrypter working for the most part. It took me just over 6 hours to rip the dvd but now I can't seem to get the files back to dvd decrypter to burn the dvd. I opened up my dvd burner and loaded the files that way, it doesn't work that way. It just burned the files as files I guess you would say. It would play the movie. So please, what am I doing wrong now? Thank you again.
You need to rip your DVD with ISO mode which create an image (ISO) of the DVD, then burn the ISO you just created with the write mode!
