I have a HP Pavillion PC, has an ASUS 8AE-LE mobo., with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2GHZ CPU. I need recommendations as to what CPU I should/could upgrade my PC to. Here's some specs from HP:

    Hardware
    Base processor
    Athlon 64 (V) 3200+ 2.0 GHz
    2000 MT/s (mega transfers/second)
    Socket 939
    Chipset
    ATI Radeon Xpress 200
    Motherboard
    Manufacturer: Asus
    Motherboard Name: A8AE-LE
    HP/Compaq motherboard name: AmberineM-GL6E

I'm trying to stay within $100, so any recommendations on single or dual core CPU's wold be great.... I've read that this mobo. supports AMD X2 dual cores. Just want to double my PC's performance.

Personally i think you need to change both mobo and cpu as AMD have moved away from the 939 socket. There was a 939 dual core out but a limited supply which you will now find difficult to get hold of. AM2 cpu are very well priced and if you have a look around you will be able to pick up a mobo and cpu for a good price.
