Hey all, This week i have build a system that is going to be my little brother's game pc, so he stops abusing mine This is what i have: 1 x DDRAM 512Mb PC3200 400MHz Asus a7n8x-x AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (S-A, 2,08GHz, 512KB, 333MHz FSB) Nvidia Geforce fx5700 Now these are my bios settings, which should be a stable configuration? : CPU external freq. 166 Mhz CPU freq multiplier auto System performance Optimal Memory freq. By SPD At first, it all seems to run fine, but when i start pumping some heavy programs (encoding, burning and so on...), at one point it just pops, like i'm pulling the plug :S Anyone knows where i have gone wrong (if i did do so in the first place!) Thanx a lot!
You should run your memory synchronously with your FSB @ 333/333 (5:5 ratio). Then, because your PC3200 is underclocked (running @ PC2700 speed) it will support more aggressive timings, and certainly be more stable @ SPD timings. Other than that, check your cooling. Does your CPU cooler get hot quickly? If it doesn't, it might not be making good contact with the CPU. Did you use Arctic Silver? Good Luck, L8R
Sounds like overheating That shouldnt be a problem running 166/200 or even 200/200 (with cooling). The NF2 is a very flexible chipset
