I have a hd3870 graphics card in my pc and it has 2 dvi outputs. (2 dual-link DVI-I connectors)

I am currently using one port with my monitor via dvi-vga adapter, but i would like to know if i can use the second port to connect to my lcd tv via a dvi cable. Will the monitor and tv display at the same time or will i have to use only one port with a splitter cable.

(my tv also has vga input but i suppose dvi is the superior connection right?)

if you connect both at the same time you can use both displays as one big one. you can move stuff back and forth between them. to set it up you will need to go to display settings and select the second monitor and click "extend my desktop to this monitor". then just set the resolution and your good to go.you will not notice any difference between dvi and vga, just use whatever is more convenient for you.

there should be an option to clone the display in catalyst control center. i dont have an ati card so im not sure where it is but if you look around in the software at the multi monitor section you should find it.
