does anyone know what type of files codec are for example graphics are jpg, jif, etc. I was just wondering because when I try to play an audible file on my computer without the audible software or when I try to use Goldwave on that same computer, it won't read them. Would like to see if all I need is the audible codec. Anyone know? thanks m
There are different codecs. Codecs are mainly libraries with rules and routines for encoding/decoding files. It's simplified answer.
That was a great answer marcus23, simple but understandible. What codec are you missing? Learn about Codecs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codec Ced
Thank you for your answer and for the site to read up on codecs. I don't know what codec I'm missing. Does anyone know what the codecs are in the Audible manager program? Where are the stored or what their names are or extension? I was just experimenting with converting thanks all M
I've never heard of that app. What format (extension) are you trying to convert too. What format are you tying to convert from? Gpsot and AVIcodec are two apps that will assist you in finding out what type of media file you are dealing with and if you PC as the right codecs installed to support it (them). Both apps do the same job but in very differnt ways. I preffer Gspot because of its advanced rendering feature that supports (analisis) media files that the program wasn't intended to support. Gspot (recommended): http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Avicodec: http://avicodec.duby.info/ --Later-- So, are your files audio books? Do they have a ".aa" file extension? If so you might want to check out this thread for more gudience: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/103313 Ced
Yeah, I've used gspot. I didn't realized it worked for audio files. I will try it. Thank you and thank you for the link. M
