Hi, The site allofmp3.com offers several bit rates and formats for downloading its tracks. Evidently, all already lossy. Setting price aside, which format amongst the following would you recommend and is there any way I may confirm your conclusion mechanically/technically?: I) MP3 LAME 384 Kbps II) MPC 'BRAINDEAD' level (allegedly, 270 Kbps, eventhough Winamp shows it to be much less. Around 140.) But, assuming it is indeed 270 Kbps. Or, better, please consider both cases in your reply. III)MP+ 'TRANSCODING' level IV) OGG VORBIS Q10 V) WMA9 Please do try replying as soon as possible. Any help would be highly appreciated. Yuval.
I doubt Lame can go that high but I could be wrong. I know 320 kBps is the max for an mp3 file but there could be a way to encode higher. MPC is better than MP3 but is unpopular and not compatible with alot of things. Transcoding and OGG Vorbis I know nothing about and avoid WMA at all costs. Wait for a more expereinced member to answer your questions before you buy or download any tracks. -Weaz-
Where are you getting these numbers Kipi100? Mp3 encoders only go up to 320 kbps! MPC at Braindead setting is crap. MPC out preforms everything when set to its standard setting (and higher). Ogg Vorbis is very comparable to Mp3 except there arn't allot of portable players that support it. WMA 9 is fine but Mp3 (LAME) is better. Ced
