I just downloaded The Ring in Xvid format. When I play in any of my players, I get video but no sound. I opened it in VirtualDub 1.5.1 and I got the error, "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format."

So, I updated my codecs using NimoLitePack10.exe. Still no audio. I'm not sure what to do.

I don't know if this helps but, the audio information according to VirtualDub is -
    Sampling Rate: 48000Hz
    Channels: 5(stereo)
    Sample Precision: 0-bit
    Compression: Unknown(tag 2000)
    Preload Skew: 28000 samples(0.50s)
    # of Frames: 80757
    Min/Avg/Max(Total Frame Size): 28/2335/28000(184222K)

Anyone know of what codec to get?

I spent a great deal of time downloading this file(697 MB), as I have 56K, so I would like to get this one to work._X_X_X_X_X_[small]- Jason Seymour[/small]

I had a similar problem, and reverted back to an old Divx player.
Try Divx player 1.x. which you can find on www.Divx.com
It worked for me. It all has something to do with security, hence the tag2000 you have.
