hi all, i could not find another forum for this but here goes anyways... I have ripped a bunch of my personal cds. When i ripped them they were ripped with Real Player...The file type is not MP3. Does anybody know a piece of software that can convert Real Player files to MP3??? Please post it here thank you very much..
uh, there is an AUDIO forum ya know... okay, here's the scoop. The short answer is yes, there are programs that can convert ra files to mp3. A very good one is dBPowerAMP. you can find it here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm. Don't forget to install the ra plugin for it though... Now, having said that, I DON'T recommend that you convert your files. By converting your lossy ra files to mp3, another lossy format, you will be losing SERIOUS quality. It is like making a copy of a copy of a copy of a VHS tape...each generation looks worse. The easy solution is to re-rip your CD collection. The best ripper is called EAC (exact audio copy). It is free (as is dBPowerAMP) and is the only ripper with error correction for an accurate rip. When combined with the LAM DLL mp3 plugin using VBR (variable bitrate), the end result will be the highest mp3s possible. We have a step-by-step guide on how to use EAC here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/mydeneaclame.cfm
