I am trying to sync the audio with the video in an avi clip using the Interleave adjustment in VirtualDub, but if I adjust it to be in sync at the end then it's out at the begining. The same is true if I sync the beginning it's out at the end. The sound is not out of sync equally over the whole video it gradually increases from start to finish. Is there a way to correct this kind of sync problem? Thanks for any advise.
Try this: 'Video' => 'Direct Stream Copy' 'Video' => 'Frame rate..' => 'Change so audio and video durations match'
It's better but is very strange because as I jump around from point to point some places it's dead on and others it's way off, like it's changing through the timeline. Maybe I should back up and ask a more basic question. The original flv file is dead on all the way through so maybe I'm using the wrong conversion. When I go to convert it to an avi format I am presented with an array of different avi types. I picked DivX because I recognize that one but maybe one of the other choices would work better, I say this because when I load the clip into VirtualDub I get a warning that it's a variable bit rate format, etc. That may be the problem. What would be the prefered type of avi to convert to?
Try using the xvid codec, that might fix your problem. When using the divx codec sometimes I also get audio/sync problems. If that doesn't work, use the free audacity to rip the audio from the file into a wav, then resave it as a mp3. And then join it again with the video in virtuadub. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Also you can try doing your flv to avi editing in avidemux, I got good results with that program. http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/screenshots.html
