I've tried a few programs (Audicity, Windows recorder, and a couple others). Can anyone recommend a good, simple, tool to lower the sound of a .wav or .mp3 file? In Audicity it just lowers the computer sound and affects all other files on the drives, not just that one file.
No, I want to put them into a Flash movie. But I need the volume levels of the a few songs different.
try cooledit, any version would have the option of lowering the levels @: http://www.mpex.net/en/software/download/cooledit.html
CoolEdit is too heavy for me. I just want to change the sound. I tried it with a .wav file but it didn't work. I made a copy of the original then lowered the volume, then played one after the other and they are the same.
Hey Its pretty easy in Cool Edit Pro Once you have opened your audio file, click on the Effects Menu, then click on the Amplitude then Amplify. In here you can choose the 10dB cut, 6dB cut, 3dB cut, or choose your own. Once you are finished, click ok, it will then lower it by the amount of decibel's u specified, save the file and your done. It is a really simple, and quick task. CJC
