Hi, I've been encoding AVIs to VCD using TMPGenc successfully for a while. At some point though, files that were previously just fine have stopped working. I can play them on RealPlayer or DivX Player, but when I try to encode them on TMPGenc, or to strip the audio into a WAV, I get messages saying that I'm missing codecs. I've checked the files with GSpot, and it tells me that I have the correct codecs - but I VirtualDub won't accept this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
This error doesn't seem to be a 'codec problem', but someting more subtile. If you managed to encode a part of the movie (before 'that' point) it means you had all the necessary codecs. But remember that sometime the AVI can be corrupt. It can be noticed by looking at the movie when when the movie you managed to encode stopped. Try 'cutting' a piece a little after the corruption point with VirtualDub (Video___Select Range: X+time ---> End + Save [F7] being sure that Video and Audio, are set on 'Direct Stream Copy'). Once I managed to save a movie just 'losing' 3' of it around a certain point. At 'X' the movie began to 'shake', but later it returned normal. I avoided to try to encode that part, doing that.
