I use nero 6.3 and my burner is a 4x4x40 ricoh mp7040a I have made a svcd using nero but on playback on a dvd player the audio is all choppy. I have made vcd and for most part the sound is ok. However the sound is bad when I made a svcd Anyone know why that is?
Well First off you Should not be useing Nero to Convert your AVI files to SVCD or VCD because Nero is well Known as being one of the Worst Quality Mpeg encoders ever created...Something Like Tmpgenc or Mainconcept Encoder would be a Much better Quality Program to use to Convert your AVI files to Mpeg1/2 for VCD/SVCD...The Choppy Playback you are Describeing sounds To Me like Bitrate Spikes and/Or your DVD Player can not Handle the Bitrate of SVCD"s..What Happens is the Bitrate in the SVCD will Suddenly Spike much Higher than it should so your DVD Player has to Suddenly Spin the CD-R really Fast so it can read the Increased Data Rate in Real Time and if it can not Spin it fast enough you Get Choppy Playback, This is usually Caused By Crappy Encodeing with an Encoder that Has Bad Bitrate Controll....
Thankyou,ok now I have tmpgenc and converted my files. What program should I use to record them to disk? nero?
You can use Nero to Burn them to Disk But just do not let it Encode the Files ...And make sure that your Files Playback properly before Burning them to disk...Cheers
