hi everybody! I'd like to know how to know the internet connection bandwidth i need for x amount of users connected at the same time, if i want to implement an audio streaming server...can somebody help me? i've looked a lot in the internet for documentation and no success..
Please don't shout. It may take a day or two for your question to be answered. This isn't a chat room.
sorry, weazel200, i didn't mean to shout (lower case)... is just that i've looked a lot in the internet and not success.... someboy a least could tell me where to find information about it ... thank you very much....
The reason no one answered is possibly that your question is hypothetical -- No one knows how long or how often people will come to your Pc/website , how much download/streaming they will do ! It is up to you to start with a certain amount of BW bought and if you exceed it you can adjust your need after.
thanks Jeanc1, well, i made the question like that because if i know the bandwidth for an hypothetical quantity of users then i should know it for any quantity. i wanted to know how to calculate it... I think i have to take what i think could be the maximun number of users i could have at the same time streaming audio (mp3 or live radio) so i can choose a bandwidth for my connection....
<<smiles>> that is the only choice you have -- it will all depend on your efforts to publicize your Radio Station ! -- At the beginning you may find not many are using your BW . Take this website here at Afterdawn , it grew over the years and now it's using BW that is measured in T (Tera) instead of G (Giga) Bytes. Watch your bill go up !
Okey, i found some information, i can stream multicast o unicasst. In multicast, there's only one connection for all the users, so i need less BW. I guess i'll start with this method and moderate BW and see what happens... Anyway there must be a way to calculate the bandwith...
