I have files that I have Converted to the MPG VOB DVD NTSC file format by using Total Video Converter. The problem is.. Once the Conversion is Completed. I am then given the option to Burn to a DVD. The files that I have Converted will not fit on the DVD. So many times...I have 3/4 of a Movie on one DVD and the other 1/4 of it on another. I would like to know.. Is there an application that would allow me to AUTHOR, COMPRESS, & BURN these Converted Files? Either by Burning to a DVD or either by Burning/Saving the files or ISO to my Hard Drive. My files are already Converted to the Correct DVD NTSC file format (mpg/vob). I just need a better application that would allow AUTHORING AND COMPRESSION then allow to Burn or Save the Files or ISO to my Hard Drive.. Any help is very much appreciated.
If you have the DVD Video compilation already, but it doesn't fit onto a single DVD, just use DVD Shrink to compress it a bit and make it small enough to fit. Then you can burn it to a disc using ImgBurn. Both are free. If your converter does not give you the proper file size after conversion, I would switch to DVD Flick(free). It does a wonderful job converting many file formats to DVD. edit: It seems that your converter did not do the authoring, just the conversion, which means you cannot use DVD Shrink. Just ditch Total Video Converter all together when it comes to converting anything to DVD. Use DVD Flick, it will do everything from A to Z.
Thanks for your response. Yes, Total Video Converter WILL AUTHOR and also Burn the Compilation to DVD. The problem that I am having is that: I have a full downloaded movie. I convert the movie using Total Video Converter. Once Converted, I have the option to Author and Burn it to DVD. Problem... When it's time for me to add the converted files to "MEDIA BURNER WIZARD" I can only sometimes add 1/2 the movie's files because Total Video Converter's Media Burner tells me that there isn't enough space on the disc to hold all of the file. This means some movies, I have to put onto 2 DVDs then, take the 2 DVDs to DVD SHRINK, which will compress them and Burn to 1 DVD. The thing is that I have had to Burn 3 DVDs, just to get 1 correct DVD. (With the Full Movie being on 1 DVD). So my question again... After I have used Total Video Converter to Convert the Movie... Is there a Better - AUTHORING Application that I could use.. so that I could skip the Media Burner Wizard in Total Video Converter? Can I actually Convert the videos using Total Video Converter, then Use another Application to Author & Burn the files? Or any other recommendations? I AM leaning to another application to use (maybe DVD Flick) - Money isn't really a problem.. I would just like a solution, and also the fastest and most reliable way. For example.. I just downloaded a video that was .AVI 932MB file size. I converted with Total Video Converter... and once again.. I am unable to fit the converted files to 1 DVD using Total Video Converter. Thanks for your Reply(s) MrStrongHold
Like I said, why use 2,3...programs when you can just use only one- DVD Flick, which is free and works great? Maybe you missed some settings in Total Converter. Can you choose a target file size? The only way you can fit those videos already converted is if you re-encode them, to reduce size. However, if you still have the AVIs, I would start from scratch. DVD Flick works great. A paid option(probably the best paid option) would be ConvertxToDVD .
Great, Thanks! I understand. No.. I just think Total Video Converter simply overlooked this option. I think that I will try another app now like the ones you've mentiond. Now that I am looking... Hopefully the ConvertXtoDVD Application is the best, (fastest & dependable) being that it isn't free. Thanks again.. for the info.

Hopefully the ConvertXtoDVD Application is the best, (fastest & dependable) being that it isn't free. Another thing... Does this ConvertXtoDVD application allow you to Batch Convert & Burn? Meaning.. I can load in all of my files (for example I import 4 avi files - and the files are 4 different movies ) that I need converted...(different movie files, file formats, etc..) then Convert them all to the File type that I would like. After the Conversion is Completed would I be allowed to say put those converted files into a folder, for burning at a later time? Total Video Converter has this option.. only thing is that they are only converted files. They would have to be Authored and Burned. That's when it's opboard but seperate "MEDIA BURNER" begins. So I can allow my friend to convert files for me, then just put the converted files onto an External Hard Drive...etc. Then Bring them to my house. Then I can pick from the files that I want.. Import them into the MEDIA BURNER. Then the Media Burner will begin to Author and Burn the files to DVD for me. Is this option possible with DVD FLICK or CONVERTXTODVD? Thankx
I personally never used ConverxToDVD. I don't know if they have implemented the batch conversion yet. DVD Flix doesn't do that either, but you can create your own batch file. Have a look at this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/753497
THANKS!! YOu HAVE indeed led me in the right direction with the CONVERTXTODVD Application.. Yes it DOES allow me to do Everything that I need to do. PERFECT! Sounds like you are like me.. you have found a steady reliable converter and are sticking with it. I HAVE tried DVD FLICK before. But never CONVERTXTODVD until now.. And I must say CONVERTXTODVD is the BEST so far... Again.. Thanks!!
