Hey all...Hows it goin? Im having problems authoring mpeg streams ive captured from my win-tv 250 card. Theyre are supposidly clean mpeg 2 files and not transport streams because of the mod files ive downloaded from www.shspvr.com...anyways the capturing is fine its Even adding menus/chapters is fine...its when i try and create the output file the problems begin. Basically when I try and output the process starts grand i go off for a while and let it too its thing...but when i comeback it says the process is @100% but only bein running for 6 minutes...I thought great at first but when I went to play it off my HD as a dvd Most of the Movie was missing...The menus/chapter links came up fine...the motion menus were grand but only the first 2 chapters were playing...when i click one of the other screens it just goes black...Is there anything I can do? Ive also tried ulead dvd workshop and well im not gonna say what I thought of that program.. Anyways sorry for the Longwinded question... Thanks, Dave
Well There are Sometimes problems with the Streams created by Low cost hardware encoders, What I used to do when I had simular problems is use a Feature in a program called "Mpeg2VCR called the "Gop Fixer" which Fixes any Audio/Video PTS Errors and and Gop errors and Makes sure the Streams Gop is 100% DVD Compliant, But before you do any of this stuff I would Try a Different DVD authoring program cuz there may just be a Bug in the Software...Cheers
Hey all...Hows it goin? Thanks Minion that reply helped me alot...i finally started using mpeg2vcr ive had it a while just never used it.The mpeg fix from shspvr wasnt what i thought it was it didnt really change the transport streams it was just a better compression setting, anyway i figured out i had to convert the files from transport streams to programme streams thats worked out grand but now when i op the files and play them the audio is outta sync. any suggestions? thanks alot
Ohh, So you were Captureing Transport Streams...The Reason for the Sync problem is usually due to when Captureing Transport Streams there is a Tendancy for there to Be Dropped Audio and Video Samples(Or Frames) and what happens is that these Dropped Samples are Replaced by Padding which is Just empty Data so there audio and Video do not Loose Sync But when Converting the transport Streams to System Streams these Padding samples get Removed and you then get Sync Problems...There is a Tool that is supposed to Convert Transport Streams to System Streams which Keeping the Padding samples and it is called something like "PvaStrumento", you can download it on this site on this Page : http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/pvastrumento.cfm Give it a Try and see if it works...Cheers
Pardon the thread interruption, but minion, will either of those apps you mentioned encode a mpeg2 or divx file to DVD compliant? What I'm trying to do is two things, place some divx movie I made to dvd, and some mpeg 2 captures from my tv tuner. Using tmpg dvd authoring it says the files must be 720x480, 704x480, 353x480 and the framerate 29.97. Now I know to only capture in the above formats, but some I have it's too late. thanks This 'might' also help PoDge.
What you need is a Mpeg encoder not a Editor like Mpeg2VCR...Something like "Tmpgenc" will Work if you know how to use it Properly because it does not like Downloaded files...An encoder Like Mainconcept encoder is easier to use and will resize them to the Proper DVD resolution but you must Realize especially with the Files that you captured with your TV Card they will Loose a LOT of Quality wen encoded to DVD Compliant Mpeg2...what resolution are your Captured Files??"?
All my previous captures are at 640x480, the best mpeg2 profile in powervcr II. I tried tmpg before but it wouldn't open them. Or is it something I did wrong or am not doing, or a certain version of tmpg? Thank you for your help.
OK...Since these Captured Files are Mpeg2 files Tmpgenc will sometimes have Problems decodeing them unless you have specific Mpeg2 Decoder installed on your system and Tmpgenc is Configured properly..So it is easier to Frameserve the Mpeg2 files to Tmpgenc useing DVD2AVI...First Download this: DVD2AVI http://arbor.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~jackei/dvd2avi/DVD2AVI_1.77.3.zip #1)First download DVD2AVI and Extract the Files to a Folder and go into the Folder and Copy and Paste the "DVD2AVI.vfp" File from the DVD2AVI folder into the TMPGEnc Install Directory .... #2) Now Run DVD2AVI and go to "File" to "open" and navigate to the Caprured Mpeg file or you can Just Drag and Drop the Mpeg file in the DVD2AVI program Window..You will now see the File in the Program window... #3) Now we have to do some Settings in DVD2AVI... a)Go to "Video" go to "YUV->RGB" and set it to "TV Scale"... B)Now go to "Audio" to "Track Number" and set it to "Track #1" now under audio go to "OutPut method" and set it to "Demux all Tracks"... C) and now go to "Help" and make sure that "Vfapi Pligin" is selected.... #4) Now go to "File" to "Save Project" and give the Project File and Name and save it ..... #5) in a Few Minutes you will Have a File with a ".d2v" extention and a "Mpa" audio file... #6) Now you can Run TMPGEnc and Load the ".d2v" file in as the Video Source and load the ".mpa" file in as the audio Source and encode it to DVD useing the settings you usually would.... This is the easiest way to encode mpeg2 files in tmpgenc when you can not get them to Load Properly, and you should Maybe Switch Mpeg Capture Programs cuz PowerVCR has not been Updated in Over 2 Years and doesn"t have the Best Quality compared to some and doesn"t have proper DVD Templates, Something like "WinDVR 3.0" would Produce much better Quality....Cheers
I'll try all that Minion, thank you very much. Looks like a lot of work. I just tried something called avi to dvd and it did convert a file, but the converted file plays super slow. Like a slide show. I also tried windvr 3.0. The problem is when recording, the video slows down noticably. And the recordings also show that. Tried uninstalling, re-installing, same thing. So it does me no good. It isn't my setup. I run a 3200+ and a gig of ram. But it might be somehow causing a conflict when power vcr II is installed. Though recordings with powervcr II are always fine. Guess I could uninstall powervcr and see if that helps. But don't feel like going through all the trouble. In fact I believe I did that once and it didn't help. Perhaps powervcr left something in the registry.
Well That is Strange, I have had that Problem Before ,Well a simular Problem but that was a Slower PC I had then but now I run a P-4 2.8ghz and It doesn"t happen at all so your Problem must be something else..Another Program I have used that produced very Good Quality with Mpeg2 was called "Power Producer 2.0" the Program It"s self is Total Crap and you do not get to Adjust the Bitrate or anything but the Files It captured were surprisingly good ..MainConcept is Comeing out with a Mpeg2 capture Program in the near Future and they Make a Very Good Standalone encoder so Maybe it will Be worth useing..I own Probably 20 different Capture Programs that capture to Mpeg2 and the Only one I will Use is WinDVR 3.0 but you can Allways Get much better Quality captureing to a Low Compression AVI format and then encodeing the Captured File to Mpeg2 with a Good Mpeg encoder which is Probably the Highest Quality method for makeing DVD"s from a Capture card...well good Luck
