i've used auto gk ver. 1.0 to encode my movies to divx and xvid but then i got the newest version and when i try to open a dvd movie on my hdd that i ripped with dvd shrink it says i need to rip with dvd decrypter in ifo read mode....wtf. i know it's probably been like this for a while but that really blows because i have a ton of dvd's backed up on my hdd that i stream with my xbox and they're all ripped with dvd shrink....i'm trying to make some room on my hdds

Even when using DVDShrink, you should rip to HD with DVDDecrypter (in File mode) first! It is a lot easier on your hardware (specifically your DVDRom) that way...
But yes, of course you must rip to HD using DVDDecrypter (in IFO mode) before using GordianKnot/AutoGK.
You would not want to make an AVI from DVDShrink files if you could avoid it...
Just remember IFO mode for AVI and File mode for Shrink - and you're good to go :^)
