I am going crazy here. I have a 16:9 letterbox DVD and I can't get the right aspect ratio of around 1.85:1. The Philips DVp642 I have will turn any ratio under 1.80:1 to fullscreen. And thats all AutoGK keeps doing is a ratio of 1.71 or 1.73. What can I do here?
Hi Saber9, The 35mm aspect ratio is 1.85:1 but, technically it is ~1.77:1 (divide 16 by 9, and see :^) which, for example, Spielburg used in Saving Private Ryan. But it is kind of approximate... Normally 1.85:1 encodes at 640x352 however S.P.R. was 640x368 (very unusual). Anyway, AutoGK is doing it correctly @ 1.77:1 and your Philips standalone is full-screening it at playback? LoL, that's not a DivX issue. But, what can you do? I would switch from AutoGK to the full GordianKnot suite http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/gordian_knot.cfm ...and make sure, when cropping/resizing, you get >1.80:1 (easy). Sooner or later you will require the full GKnot - any questions, we can help you. Regards
