There are two choices on apples website for av cables on is 20 bucks and says for slideshows, it has the threeprongs and everything but there is a really big cable which is 40 bucks which says i can hook it up to my tv and watch videos w/ it. Now I want to be able to watch movies on my tv with my ipod. DOes anyone know If the cheap one will let u watch movies through it. Sorry if my post is confusing.
no it isn't really confusing. from experience, i'd stick with apple for an apple product. so if you really want to watch videos i would suggest sticking with the one on the apple website which is 40 bucks as it has a higher rating. it will have a better performance aswell http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...ZYf1KL/0.SLID?nclm=iPodCablesandDocks&mco=AA4 Lethal
I made my own from an 1/8" AV (triple banded male) and 3 RCA plugs connected by insulated copper wire. Works great, and, if (like me)you have all the parts at home, it's FREE!!! Even in the worst case I can't imagine that the parts would cost more that $8 at a shack style electronics store.Or if you have an old AV cable from a still or video camera lying around, there you go.Not that I would question the quality and reliability of the Apple original, in the long term, it is far superior.
I have the Apple AV Connector and than I later bought the iPod Universal Dock for $30 becuz it wuz $10 less (Great Price). Than I already owned an S- Video Cable and temporarily I use computer speakers (S-Video does only picture). The quality of the Video seems better on a TV but u have to use external speakers to get sound.
You can use any A/V cable used with a video camera. Only thing is that the red jack is video and the yellow jack is audio... otherwise works fine and costs half of what apple is asking.
Hello I purchased the 19.99 apple ipod av cable and plugged it up to my tv...now the music works fine but when i try to watch movies the sounds works but the video doesnt...why is that? Thanks
Under Videos/Video Settings turn the TV Out to On and make sure you have your TV signal set to the correct value, NTSC for the US, PAL for most everywhere else.
i think i heard that apple changed the video input to red instead of yellow so that should solve one of your problems.
What's cheap about the Apple connectors? You can buy gold tipped connectors for half the price. Just reverse red and yellow when plugging in.
They arnt cheap, like made poorly it is just cheaper than the one that is 40 Bucks!!! It works great, and i like to stick with the apple brand and its fairly cheap!
i agree with Domreis, but at radio shack they sell cheap wires that are good quality and cost like 5 buck or something.
Sticking with apple products ensures compatability, but it doesn't ensure quality. Cheaper accessories do a more than adequate job. Why spend so much on things like AV cables?
Well, I wonted to get the Av Kit from apple wich is a great deal in the long run because I got it for $50 at Fredmeyer!
Well, The Apple Av Kit Comes with the Av cable... and if you think about it since I got $50 off the Av Kit (50% off) then I only payed $10 for the Av cable makeing it a great deal!!
