Hello, This is my first post so please be patient. I am having problems utilizing several programs in regards to AVI conversion. I am extremely new to the digital world and have little knowledge of digital media formats and digital conversion. My problem is likely simple to most of you but rather perplexing to me. I have a collection of television episodes that are in AVI format and I wish to convert them so I can burn them to a DVD. I would like to add a menu that would allow the viewer to click on the appropriate title and then begin to watch the corresponding video. After reading countless pages of information I now have a list of software: DVD shrink DVD decrypter ImToo mpeg encoder ConvertXtoDVD TmpGenc dvd author GSpot I have this software and I have no idea how to use them together to make a nice DVD. I can use DVD shrink and decrypter just fine as I like the VOB files and I seem to pick up on that easily with other conversions. However with the AVI, the other programs are more precise and I'm afraid I'm without a paddle. Are there articles that may help me with this that I may have overlooked? I'm willing to learn I just need the proper guidance. Maybe I should get rid of some programs and replace them with others? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Famed-
Simplest program for you to use for this is WinAVI -keep in mind that you can fit roughly 2-3 hours worth of video onto the DVD (so around 4-6 30 minute episodes). You can also try Nerovision Express since that can make the menus easily, all you hve to do is drag and drop around 4-6 episodes and then follow the on screen instructions. hERE'S A GUIDE FOR wINavi http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_formats_to_dvd_winavi.cfm edit-- Keep in mind WinAVI will NOT create menus, after creating DVD files with it you will have to find another program to make the menus.
I see you have ConvertXtoDVD. That should do all that you wish by itself. Here is a guide for it if you need it:http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vso_convertxtodvd_guide.cfm
