I am trying to convert an avi file. I have downloaded AVI Codec and TMPGEnc. I just don't know where to begin or what to do? When I use the TMPGEnc program, the video source says it is not supported. I have been doing a lot of reading, and I am real confused. I will continue to look and read but a little help would be nice.

Are you looking to convert it to an mpeg?
If you are what you do is open the .avi in virtual dub. In the file menu click on Save wav and give it a number or whatever you want to name it.
WHen it is done use Tmpgenc and open up the .avi file and change the audio source to the wav file you extracted. Then go through the rest of the motions with Tmpgenc and it will convert it to an mpeg.
    Good Luck

Some players don't play avi files. I suggest you convert it to mpeg and, use a dvd authoring software and burn it to disc.

Or you could use a dvd authoring program such as ULEAD dvd movie factory and burn the avi file to disc. Any authoring program should allow you to burn an avi to a disc. I don't know if Nero can do it though.
