avs video converter will handle these to tasks beautifully and at $60.00 US it'd bloddy should. BUT..... should you want to know how to do it for free? heres how i do it any way (if anyone knows a shortcut please let me know. first download this free software dvd decrypter dvdx 2.7 clonedvd vso divxtodvd HT fireman cd/dvd burner 1.0.011 AVI TO DVD (watch on T.V.) 1) create a folder in your preferred workspace. i named mine vob, but you can call it what you like. 2) open vso divxtodvd and load your AVI. file 3) in destination select the folder that you created 4) set your settings, i leave it in automatic mode 5) press convert. after successful conversion (approx. 1 hour) 6) close vso divxtodvd 7) open clonedvd 8) choose dvd video on hard disk 9) select the folder you created and look for video_ts then click ok 10)follow the steps in clonedvd and you cannot fail, well i dont anyway. after successful burning 12) close clonedvd 13) go to your created folder and delete everything INSIDE the folder. keep this folder empty so you can use it next time with no dramas. ok now...... DVD TO AVI......... 1) decide what movie you will be working on 2) create a folder in your preferred workspace and call it (whatever movie you chose) 3) load the dvd face up in dvdrw drive 4) open dvd decrypter 5) click EDIT and select 'main movie plus ifo's 6) in destination select the folder you created 7) click decrypt button after successful decryption 8) close dvd decrypter 9) open dvdx 2.7 10)click on file, then open dvd root 11)select the folder you created (look for video_ts folder) 12)in the box select the one with the longest time(this will be your movie) 13)decide your prefered input settings and click APPLY 14)decide your prefered output settings and click APPLY 15)decide your AVI. destination and click APPLY 16)now click ENCODE after successful conversion 17)close dvdx 2.7 18)delete the FOLDER that you created now repeat this process (with different movies eg. lord of the rings trilogy) move your AVI. files to a folder and name it eg. disk 1 be sure to keep an eye on the size of this folder (try not to exceed 4.1 GB) open HT fireman cd/dvd burner 1.0.011 select dvd data then start drag the folder (disk 1) into the program follow the steps and burn now not only do you have your movies backed up you have multiple avis on one disk which can be used at anytime easily TIP>>>>> before burning your disk open notepad and create a list of what will be on the disk and save it to disk 1 folder and to another folder that you should create called movies list. this will come in handy should you be looking for a movie. do this with every disk and you will be kept organised. well thats how i do it anyway if any body knows a better way please post here. peace bro and to all good luck (you wont need it follwing these steps its eeeeeeeezzzzzzzzeeeeeeeee.
