i am downloading vids from limewire and i have been trying to convert them to a dvd-r using nero vision express 2, but i cant get them to play in my home dvd player, this is a first because when i rip from dvd to dvd they work fine, but not using nero. i have transfered the vids from limewire to MY VIDEO under my documents, and that is where i pulled the vid from to put into nero to convert, but i noticed that when the vid is in limewire it is a AVI file but in MY VIDEOS it looks to be mp3 format
    could this cause me problems.

i also have not been saving the vid to my hard drive but instead saving it stright to the dvd-r. would this mess it up?

    thanks for the help

Let me see if I can suggest some things that I noticed in my case. I used Nero before to burn DVD's. I had problems playing it on my DVD player, there was compatibilty issues with my DVD player. I too was able to play ripped DVD on my player but not my home movies. Well see you have to encode AVI files to MPEG to VOB files for Nero to burn on to DVD-R. Hope this helps.
Ripped DVD's just make copies of the original which already has VOB files on it to begin with, so the correct files are being copied onto your new burnt DVD's. So those you will have no problems watching.
Other files have to be converted to VOB's before you can burn on DVD to watch on your home player.

    Hi there,

    Try out VSO ConvertXtoDVD v2.0

Simple to use, and works pretty well.

Even has it's own burning engine built in !
