Okay so I finally got a working external DVD burner. I succesfully burned an AVI to DVD today but it took like over 2 hours for Toast Titanium 6.0.7 to encode it ..then about 3 minutes to burn it. Why does it take so darn long and is there something else I can do to reduce this amount of time. Do I need another program or something? Please Help! thanks.
How fast is your processor? How long was the video? It is amazing how long it takes to compress MPEG1 verses MPEG2. MPEG1 takes WAY longer. I do know that I compressed a 24 minute quicktime file that was originally 720x480/29.97fps (DV basically). It took my client 3 hours to compress for a VCD. My Dual G5 2gig took about 30 minutes.... That's why I suggested a faster machine. Perhaps it was optimized for the G5 and dual processing... Heck my G4/400 would probably take 8 hours! MG
I too just finished burning some music videos that i have (20 in total) using Toast and it took me like 2.5-3 hrs for it to encode as well, and only 3 minutes to burn...what a piss off.
