There are No One Click AVI to DVD programs...Going from AVI to DVD has to many steps than need User Input for it to be a One click Procedure...First your Files have to Be encoded to Mpeg2 DVD format then your Movie then needs to be authored to a DVD which Involves the User to Choose Chapter Points and to Set up Menu"s and Buttons and formated to a Video_TS folder that then gets Burned to a DVD.
..There are Programs that do all of this But it is Not a One Click procedure and these programs do not do the Best Job so the Quality will Be some what Marginal at best..Programs Like "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" will do it and there are millions of others.........

Isn't there a guide that has steps to go from AVI to DVD (or VCD SVCD) that you could follow? Even if it starts out with ripping, you could skip those parts and pick up from the AVI section to DVD.

    Great!

Also, since I'm trying to go from VHS to DVD (or VCD/SVCD), I've been looking at this stuff and the bundled software that came with my VHS capture interface called Linx/Studio 8 (a USB cable from the vid machine to the pc) has a movie burning prog called EZ Movie and Photo Burner. It's by Pinnacle and it took my AVI file and burned it to VCD.

    Nero Vision Express does this!
Use NVE hectar if you want a no hassle way to easily convert AVI to DVD. It even burns it for you :D

Muchos grassyarse hombres. As lookin forward to the uploaded prog. Meanwhiles I tried NVE and got great video but there was no sound. Is this cause of protections? (CSS? or other?).

Seems to me compadres that given the availability of avi movies on the net there should be some kinda de facto advisory system re convertin' avi to dvd. As wachem ona ma laptop but I kinda hanker after the visual delights and audio superiority that I can get a from ma big TV and surround sound gizmos.

Can the following be used in this order:

    cucusoft avi to dvd
    dvd shrink
? and the best burner is...?

    hasta,
    hectar

Nero Vision express still isn"t a One Click Solution ,You still have to set up chapters and menu"s which isn"t a one click thing, and becides out of all of the Programs you could choose to do this with Nero vision express is the absolute worst program to use...It is well known for Produceing terrorable Quality Encodes, Even something like NeoDVD Plus or MyDVD 5 would be better, At least MyDVD will capture directly to Mpeg2 DVD with some sort of Quality, and it"s encodeing is at least Passable..I think No actually I know you would get much better results if you used a good quality Mpeg encoder to encode your Captures to Mpeg2 then use a good dvd authoring Program to author the dvd....

I know this is proberly the best method of AVI to DVD, but hectar is a newbie and is not as advanced as we are Minion!

NVE will do just fine for you hectar.
The Cucusoft AVI to DVD / DVD Shrink can be used in that order and a great burner is the Pioneer 106 or Sony DRU500.

Ok Minion. We want names and links.

I've got a project I've started here. I'm bringing in via a USB interface a capture from a VHS machine. Right off the bat the video capture is going to be compressed because I'm using USB so I want as little compression as possible after that. I've got 5 codecs to choose from of which three are Indeo and one is a YUV2, the last is PCLEPIM1 32 bit. Don't know which one to use. Anyway after the capture and edit I can render the file to an AVI or MPEG 1 or 2. I assumed an AVI would be the way to go but I've got a fistfull of codecs to choose from: Xvid, Huffy, Indeo, Cinepak and others.

Now can I take the capture, which I think is an avi but unsupported because it hasn't been rendered, and use something other than Studio 8 to make it into a useable AVI? After that of course I want to be able to burn to DVD and play it on my standalone Sony.

    Hola y'all,
I'm a purty fed up wid all these TDK dvd coasters a pop you lating ma lounge. As ditched dat Nero as it seems incapable of somehow nprovidin me with da sound and vision.

    iS IT ME?

I tried to burn Memento which was in avi to both svcd and dvd and NVE failed in both counts. Dat film plays perfect in avi on Windows media player and divx player.

Ok guys I see that a one click solution is about as near to acheivin as peace in Iraq so I'm a thinkin that a three or four click solution would be betta.

I used cucusoft but der musta be a faster solution than this?

I like that dvd shrink ware . It's purty intuitive but after those two steps (and here I must apologize to Koola - he's picked me up wrong) - it's not the hardware I was referring to but the burning software to use I meant after the first two.

    have a nice weekend all

Nice guide Koola. I tried using TMPGEng 2.5 and I got a message saying the AVI cannot be opened or is unsupported.

Still, I'm going to try a few different things...

Me too companero, - got an error message or fifteen. I downloaded dat mpeg 42 ting and after a codec war within my laptop - I achieved a non read situation. Furdamore dem avi mooovies seem to wanna take about 19 hours to convert. Whatchasay eh? El crapito or what.

I need a solution which 'll read an avi to mpeg conversion sometime this side of the age of aquarius and then sumting to organize it all in prep for burning. Tried the ulead free download but a that doesn't work, tried nero, then threw da nero burning disc inta da air along wid that NVE crap and gave it the old one two via bessie ma trusty 12 bore....aint lost a ma touch ya know despite the passing a years.

    Burn on bros -

You could have guides that are encoded in XviD or DivX. If you do, then you will need the codecs. I have these two codecs installed on my system and it converts DivX to a DVD MPEG fine. I converted it today, and it works fine.

Look here on AfterDawn and download the DivX and Xvid codecs.

    thanx Koola
I dont know what codec did it but I downloaded a whole bunch from where you said and also dat 4cc thing. TMPGEnc is a converting Resident evil - and says its agonna be dun in 2 and three quarters. I've now discovered that this software is faster than all the other avi to dvd chit I be usin and dats summit good. Whence I gits the mpeg format I'll move on and letcha know how it goes. Hey if I can do it anybodys can!

If you think Tmpgenc is Fast then you must only have tried Crappy encoders..Tmpgenc is well know for being Fairly slow compared to other high end encoders..Like the MainConcept encode can encode at about real Time, and CCE on my system encodeing to say SVCD I can encode at about 3 times real time and to VCD resolutions at about 5 times real time so imagine encodeing a 2 hour movie to Mpeg2 in 20 minutes, Now that is fast....Cheers

    Minion,
I've just a tried dat MAin Cocept ware wid the watermark embedded albeit (demo) and it is indeedy the very puppies privates at conversion. Dag nabbit it dun dun Resident evil in 30 minweetoes in my p4 2.66 wid 512 ram ddr shared 64mb ati!

Think I'll break da habit of a lifetime and buy maself an early Christmas present.

Now having got da conversion what is the canine's when it comes to sorting it out in prepo for da buring to DVD? What other pearls can ya let me know.
