    Hi,
I'm extremely new to burning movies. My old burner never really worked all that great and was just a CD burner. I've now got a DVD burner and I'm curious about how I can burn an avi to DVD so that it will play on my standalone DVD player? What's the best program for that? I've got Nero and it took my file that was around 349 MB and expanded it to around 2.2 GB (roughly). The problem is that I want more than two of these files to fit on a DVD so that I won't have to use a lot of discs? Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, that's definitely the best solution... DivxToDVD and Shrink in "re-author mode." I've used this method hundreds of times with excellent results! And, both tools are 100% free! :)

Thanks so much. It works really great. I've got one more question is there anyway to add chapters or start menus to the DVDs I'm burning without it taking up a huge amount of the disc space.

You could use Nero Vision Express, TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVD-Lab Pro, they all cost money. I'm not too sure about a free one

    hi

avi2dvd will take multiple avi and make one film in files or iso for burning it will shrink it to, it also adds chapters but no menus! can convert ntsc to pal or visa versa, its very good.

it has 4 built in encoders i recommend HCEnc encoder! but can also use CCE but that will cost you avi2dvd is free...

avi2dvd can do main movie only from dvd to dvd aswell with great quailty

there is also film machine for avi (multiple) to one film aswell, its alot like avi2dvd and a free app to, film machine can boost audio too and sort some colour issues to

I am using DivxToDVD and my .avi files convert to .vob files, which I don't need. Is there a way to convert it to .iso file?

    Hi NimeTygre,

Why would you want to make an ISO ?
You can burn this VIDEO_TS dir directly.

If you must, you can use tools like WINISO to create an ISO.
It's not free, but there must me a freeware ISO maker somewhere :)

Google it, you might find one !

    Hi cougar_ii,

I want to make an ISO because my burning software cannot recognize the VOB files which result from DivxToDVD. I have DVD Shrink, which doesn't recognize the VOB files either, so I am not sure what I am missing or doing wrong.

    hi

@ NimeTygre not sure why divxtodvd didnt make compatible files for apps to burn? but do this!

put the vob files ONLY in another folder (NO IFO OR BUP FILES!!!!) then use ifoedit to make new bup / ifo for the vobs.

open the FREE app and click the button CREATE IFO bottom center or app, note keep destination folder for files same as the vobs!!!

then load the lot to dvd shrink! easy!

    MAIN MOVIE ONLY this way

    Hi there,

DivXtoDVD v0.5.2b creates a VIDEO_TS so you can burn with Nero, VSO CopyToDVD and all other software.

I never burned with DVD Decrypter, must it be in .ISO to use DVD Decrypter ?

Everything worked really great, and I've used it for a lot of things, but now it won't work for a couple of files. So I was wondering if there was anything that is as reliable.

You are having issues with some files and DivXtoDVD v0.5.2b ??

What kind of errors are you getting ??

    Anything like NTdll.dll errors ?

    It says:
The input frame rate 250000/10427 doesn't match the output frame rate (29.97Fps). Rate conpensation will be used.

The next thing it says is:
    can't create output folder

The last thing it says is:
Exception during conversion. Output may not be available.

    Hi there,

This is normal, most AVI files I have are 25 fps and I force them to NTSC 29,97fps. It's a message I see a lot.

This one I'm a little concerned.

DivXtoDVD will create a directory using the FILENAME from filename.avi

    What's the filename ?

Is there weird characters in the name ?

Do you get this can't create output dir on every file ?

Do you load more than 1 file in DivXtoDVD ?

Are you creating the dir in the ROOT of a drive, and you already have millions of directories in there ?

This error, I'm not sure about this one, sorry !
