AVI to MPEG

    is it possible to convert an .avi file to MPEG. Tried it with TMPGEnc and it says unsuopported file format. If it can be converted what software is recommended...thanks in advance

    TMPGEnc, you just need to have the correct codec for the AVI and if the audio is in some tricky format (AC3), you need to demux that to WAV using some external tools.

    Thanks for the nfo. When media player downloads the codec, it downloads then gives an error saying it can't install it. It plays the sound but no video...

    WMP's codec-detection simply sucks. Download the latest DivX codec (5.01) from our software section, it should help you (the most obvious one).
