    I hope that I have posted this query in the correct forum, as the content will apply to more than one!

    I have downloaded an avi file and rather than converting to a TS I am wanting to burn to a CD-R as a VCD to play in my stand-alone.

    The problem I have is that I downloaded a file from a newsgroup which is listed as 696Mb, however when I uncompress it, using WINrar and subsequently drop into Nero it increases in size to 775Mb and won't fit on a single CD-R!!

    Now I assumed that the reason these files were compressed through avi in the first place is so that they would fit onto a CD, so am I doing something wrong or is this just a daft newbie question?!

    Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Apologies, some additional info I should have put on the original question;

    The file folder states 696MB
    The avi within the folder states 713244KB
    When I drop the avi into Nero 7 it comes in at 775MB.

    TIA
