try this: You need to D/L TMPGenc There is a free 30 day trial. Now open Tmpgenc. When you open it you will get the wizard. Now w/in the wizard the choose the dvd format you would like. Now load up the .avi file and follow the wizard. Now when you are finished you will use Tmpgenc DVD Author (which is also on the site) to create the necessary dvd files. You must D/L the correct version so that it matches your computer operating system. If you are using XP or 2K you can also burn to your DVD with Tmpgenc DVD Author. If you prefer you can use your own burning software to create the DVD. A couple of others might suggest a better way but this is the approx. way that I do it. Hope this helps

If you prefer you can use your own burning software to create the DVD. What does D/L mean? thanks for your help, I am USING XP. So when this is done creating the file with TMPEnc i will be about to select it with dvd x copy RF, and burn it?
D/L means DownLoad !! No !! You need to then remux the Video+Audio together after TMPGEnc... If you're talking about TMPGEnc DVD Author , thats a [bold]different[/bold] matter. Anyway , the best/easiest way to do it is to use : [bold]MainConcept MPEG Encoder TMPGEnc DVD Author Nero 6[/bold] IMHO
see i need this to do this to AVI files so i can burn them with DVD X COPY PLAT. RF. Because it will only burn Video_TS files , and see dvd x copy compresses the movies , and i have 2 hours movies that will only burn with X copy. So if what im doing will make a AVI movie to a Video_ts file im 100% for it.
IT DOES !! MainConcept MPEG Encoder will encode any avi/divx/xvid file to MPEG2 Then TMPGEnc DVD Author will convert MPEG2 to VOB/BUP/IFO (ready to put in a VIDEO_TS folder & burn) Is the quickest/easiest route , whilst retaining video quality...
A very easy way is NeroVision Express (part of Nero 6). Just run it, choose "Make a new DVD", select your AVI file, click Next a few times and wait for the disc to burn. Maybe the video quality won't be the best but you can't make the process easier.
Hi Levister You can do it either herbsman way (excellent) or my way (above average ). Either way will get you to where you want to go.
Load it into [bold]TMPGenc DVD Author[/bold] and convert to VOB/BUP/IFO ... ready for burning [this process should only take 40-50mins max]
dvd author says this when i load it into it. THE VIDEO RESOLUTION 576*240 cannot be used for standard dvd. ALSO, THE VIDEO FRAMERATE 23.976 fps CANNOT BE USED FOR A STANDARD DVD. ALSO, A VIDEO SEQUENCE HEADER IS NECESSARY FOR EVERY GOP IN A STANDARD DVD. HELP?
Well you didn't use MainConcept correctly then my friend DVD (MPEG2) PAL (if you're NTSC , choose that obviously) Layer 2 (Audio) Program - Video+Audio
Hi Levister, We gave you the best advice that we could and both of us gave you excellent programs ( although I'll admit Main Concept is a little better )to use. I strongly suggest that you find the guides for all of the programs. Now print then out and do exactly what they say to do. I have taken the movies the wife and I took of the kids and converted to DVD using the method that I suggested. I know it works and you just need to find out where you deviated from the norm
Encode to DVD & it'll create an MPEG2 (DVD Compliant) file , so it WILL be the right resolution & 48,000Hz !!! Then put thru 'TMPGEnc DVD Author'...
