I took an AVI (Zoolander) and because the sound and picture were off, I used VirtualDub to extract the audio to a WAV file... Now, I am supposed to go into TMPGEnc and in the source range settings, change the audio gap correct, right? If it's quite a few seconds off, how do you suggest I do this? [bold]i just thought i should add a little bit more info to help this get figured out.[/bold] the audio used to be out of sync by a few seconds, but after running divfix and fixing the errors, the sync is fixed. now, when i try to open it in virtualdub, it wants to rebuild the index, which takes a looong time. so, do i have to rebuild the index or can i just run it through tmpgenc right away?
This extracting the WAV has never worked for me, it gives me a headache. I found the best way to fix the audio was go to the "source range" in TMPGE and use the "Audio Gap Correct field". Type in 2000 for 2 seconds of audio and encode a couple of mb. You can then open the movie and to check if the audio is in sync. I've only had to do this a couple of times and each time it took me quite a bit of fiddling to get it right but I'm getting better at it with practise. I don't know if that helps you, but it's just a suggestion. Cheers Sandra
More in general, avoid using VirtualDub to extract the audio. This often cause audio to be out-of-synch. Personally, I use TMPGenc 'MPEG tools' to demux audio and video.
