avi video that i cant seem to watch

    i am running windows media player 7.1 on windows 98 and downloaded the vin diesel movie "triple x". but media player wont play it for some reason. its an avi format and im not sure what to do, now if it was encoded to an avi format does that mean i have to decode it to mpeg. or how does that work?? im lost and desperatly wanna see this movie,can anyone help??. thanks in advance.

    You need to have a correct codec. Try installing FFDShow package, you can find it from our software section.

    do i just install it anywhere or what? does it un by itself as i open media player?? thanks in advance.

    Download it, read the reame.txt (always a nice thing to do) and yes, it should be used automatically when you play DivX/XviD clips.
