Hi guys, Im trying to create an hd-dvd (which ive done with mpeg2 files successfully). Here is my problem though. I have an AVI file (xvid mpeg4 1920x800) with 2 audio tracks (one ac3 and one DTS). I want to convert the avi to mpeg2 while keeping the same video and dropping the ac3 track. Then, I can put the mpeg2 file in Ulead's Movie Factory 5 to create the hd-dvd folders. So far, if I try to put the avi in MF5 I lose the audio all together. Any ideas?? Suggestions?? Thanks.
Load that AVI with VirtualDubMod. Do Stream__Stream List. Select the stream you want to discard and press 'disable'. Then press OK. Finally, set video to 'direct stream copy'. Save the movie with File___Save or pressing F7, choosing a differet name. Wait 5 minutes and it will end its job. As soon as it ends, you'll have a single-audio AVI.
Cool....ill give that a try this afternoon. I was playing around with VirtualDub last night. Does anyone know why that when I play the original AVI in Roxio and MF5 that it shows up as just a green screen? Is it possibly something to do with the xvid mpeg4 encoding or the frame rate of 23 fps? Anyone experienced this? When I used the AVI to create the hd folders in MF5, I lost the sound, but the picture was fine then (I guess it converted to MPEG2). It played on my hd-dvd at 1080i, but no sound (it said LPCM in the audio track though). Also, whats a good DTS software that I can hear it on my comp? Obviously, my HT setup will play DTS, but my comp wont. I want to hear it on the comp before putting it on a disc. Thanks.
I stripped off the ac3 audio track from the avi using virtualdub. I downloaded PowerDVD program last night....it supposedly plays just about anything. It still would not play the AVI xvid mpeg4 correctly. Still shows up as a green picture. If I convert a sample to mpeg2, it plays fine, but there is no audio. I suspect something is up with the DTS sound though. PowerDVD is supposed to play DTS sound. Maybe my soundcard doesnt support DTS? Im unfamiliar with DTS on computers. I assumed that PowerDVD would convert it or something to allow my card to play it. Oh well....still experimenting.
