    Hi,
I have downloaded an avi (movie) file. When I play it I see it with english subtitles. How can I find out whether, in fact, the said avi consists of 2 files, namely the avi + an srt (or sub) file, or the subtitles have been embedded into the avi. The reason why I need to know this is that I would like to copy the said subtitles and add theem to an other, more qualitative, avi file (of the same movie). Also - if I find that those subtitles are embedded into the avi - I would like to know how can I extract or copy them.
    Thanks in advance

If the download consisted of the .avi file, then the subtitles are burned and permanent.
There are OCR programs like 'AVISubDetector' that can make an attempt at reading and saving as a .srt file, but the work is time consuming and prone to error.
