When i convert my Avi (xvid) files to VCD they work fine on the PC.
When i play them in my DVD player some frames are choppy. Most frames are fine, but frames that have camera movements to the left or right or moving credits always seem to lag.

Can anyone tell me how to prevent this from happening.

    Thanks

This is extremely common with the VCD Format and is usually caused from Bitrate Spikes when encodeing the File...What Happens is when you DVD player hits an area of the Video were the Bitrate spikes it has to suddenly have to spin the Disk Faster to read the Increased Data rate and it usually can not spin it fast enough so you notice Lags in the Video.....

You can try encodeing your Video"s useing a different encoder and make sure you use a CBR encodeing Method.....

You might just be better off Not Makeing VCD"s at all and Make DVD"s instead You can even put VCD files on to DVD and put up to 4 VCD Movies on each DVD without the Playback problems...

I had about 400 movies On SVCD and Many of them had this same Problem and I eventually go so fed up with them That I got a DVD Burner and transfered them all from SVCD To DVD and they all Played Perfectly when authored to DVD and I was able to Fit up to 3 SVCD movies on each DVD....

    Cheers
