I have just downloaded Avi2dvd and when attempting to convert an avi file i get an error Avisynth open failure: AVISource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc xvid (c:\avi2dvd_temp\Aviscript_Script_file.avs,line2) When I downloaded Avi2dvd I also installed Avisynth but using the defaults during install. Any help would be appreciated
Sounds like you need a codec. You can drag the AVI onto 'Gspot' and it will let you know if the codecs are installed. http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/GSpot270a.zip You might want to check out this avi conversion program. It has it's own codecs. http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe Set 'Aspect' and 'Standard' before converting.
Did you try to convert it with the VSO program? What type of AVI is it? What information did GSpot show under 'Video'?
Yes tried the VSO program but got lots of error messages as follows Video packet dropped due to error on frame NNNN Gspot shows Codec: XVID Name: XviD 1.2 SMP MPG4 Codec(s) are Installed The file is an australian movie called Kenny
I can't think of any good reason why the two conversion programs would have a problem with this file. If you wish to scan the file for errors, run VirtualDub and drag the file on to the window. Click 'Video' > 'Scan video stream for errors' and see if it reads a problem. VirtualDub most recent stable http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ BTW does the file play ok on the PC?
