Hi, I've been hardsubbing AVI Xvid/DivX files with AVIRecomp so i can playback subtitled files on my dvd player via usb. Recently, I've tried to recompress my file and received the following error: VirtualSub Error Video Source AVI Error: The source image format is not acceptable. (error code 2). File details: User Data x264 - core 50 svn-569 i'm new at this, but i would like to hardsub the file and playback on my dvd player (philips) via usb. if i need a certain codec or software, please let me know which one. thank you.
If you have FFDSHOW installed on your PC, goto Start > All Programs > FFDSHOW > VFW Configuration and set H264 to Libavcodec. If you don't have FFDSHOW, then you have to install a VFW (video for windows) x264 codec. http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/
Hi Attar, thanks for your help. i have read several guides instructing me to enable the FFDShow. however, I'm still getting the virtualdub error: "Video Source AVI Error: The source image format is not acceptable. (error code 2)." I'm thinking avirecomp is probably not the right program to use. the file itself is an avi container.
Did you enable it in the VFW Configuration? I have avi files using x264 codec and can open them in VirtualDub ok. Try running VirtualDub from it's folder and drag the file into it - that gets AviRecomp out of the picture.
Hi Attar, i've enabled the configuration, and it looks like the image you've posted while using Virtual Dub, i dragged the file in & get the following message: [!] AVI: A non-zero wBitsPerSample value was detected in the MP3 audio format structure. This has been corrected in-memory to zero for better compatibility with commonly installed MP3 audio codecs. [!] Video codec "Panasonic DV CODEC" is claiming to be able to decompress formats that it does not actually support. This can cause the Windows video codec system to malfunction and may cause applications to crash. Please remove the errant codec or replace it with an updated version from the original vendor. next i go to video --> filters, add my subtitler file from avery lee. next i load my .ssa file then i go and compress to Xvid then i preview the output file, which looks fine, except: the original resolution is 800x450 (I've tried adding the resize filter, not sure if i'm doing it right, i've adjusted the resolution to 720 x 405) - will not be supported by my philips dvd player the subtitles are in the middle of the screen (not sure how to fix this) next, i go to video -->compression --> Xvid MPEG-4Codec Video is set on full processing mode Audio is set to direct stream when i save as an avi, i get the following error: Cannot start video compression: an unknown occurred (may be corrupt data) error code 100) i've deleted all programs and re-downloaded them, i've even deleted the avi file itself and redownloaded them, i still get the same message from virtualdub.
VirtualDub 'File' > 'File information' does it show it as x264? Resize Filter:insert 720 and resize to 'compute height from ratio' (16:9) and check 'Multiples of 16' in 'Codec-friendly sizing' and 'OK' - if you look at the filter information it shows original size (800x450) and new size SB 720x400 or 404 (no longer 705) Then add the subs filter. If that doesn't help, try loading the source into AviDemux - it's more forgiving than VirtualDub and uses internal codecs instead of the installed ones.. You can use the video filters to resize and add subs.
Hi Attar, sorry to trouble you again. i've got an AVI x264 - core 65 file, while trying to hardsub the file in virtual dub, i can't seem to see the subtitles when i preview the output file. i'm using all the above configurations again. how can i fix so the subtitles are shown in the output + hardsubbed when i watch on my usb & dvd player?
