Someone gave me an AVI that VirtualDubMod said it was encoded with the "ATSC/A-52 (Dolby AC3)" audio codec. The audio is played between 1/2-1 seconds too fast. If I try to align it with VirtualDubMod, it just gets further off when I put -500 in the Audio Skew Correction.
Sounds like the Codec the movie was converted to is XviD not standard AVI or DivX. XviD is a more compressed version of DivX.
